It’s been a beautiful week for me, for a number of reasons! I managed to take some time out for myself to visit my family and friends, which is a great thing by itself. But before that, it was my birthday last Saturday and I spent the day trading at the Lord Mayor’s Show in Birmingham (with my mother helping out, thank you mum!!).
It was a fantastic day and the weather was more than kind, so there was a great turnout of people to see the day’s events. Trading took place in the magnificently opulent banqueting suite in Council House, one of Birmingham’s many fine examples of architectural excellence.
On the day I found that my iced tea packs were a popular addition to the summer range, as well as the unmistakable Makaibari teas (finest grade Darjeeling grown to organic bio-dynamic standards) and Taiwanese high mountain oolong tea. I had been busy in the run up to the event working on some new products, and I also had an official presentation to the Lord Mayor himself of a bespoke tea blend that I had come up with for him. It was an exciting moment for me and I was a little nervous but he put me at ease with a very amiable manner and down to Earth personality. It was a true pleasure to talk with him and an absolute honour to have the opportunity to present my own blend to the Lord Mayor.
As with so many things, the unexpected and pleasant surprises really go a long way to embellish the day, and it is with fond heart that I recall the lovely people I met on the day, both public and traders alike. Thank you, Birmingham!
